For those who are unfamiliar with your music, how would you describe it to them? How would you finish the sentence, “BLACK ON is ___” or “BLACK ON’s music is ___”?
BLACK ON is a sophisticated artist, like a pearl in the dark. BLACK ON's music, style, dance, and music videos always show sophistication and artistry.
How did you choose your stage name, and did you consider any other specific names before deciding to go by “BLACK ON”?
Before “BLACK ON,” my name was “T-ONE,” meaning "TIME ONE." There's only one time, and time is precious. The meaning of the name “BLACK ON” begins with the sophistication and sexiness of [the color] black.
Please describe your new mini-album, The 7 Stories Inside Me.
It's not just my seven stories, but an album that has a different meaning for the number seven.
Please share some information about each song on your new album.
“INTRO. INSIDE ME”: It's an intro song that makes you fall in love. The balance between the emotional voice [in] both ears is controlled. It gives freshness and fun to the ears, and it's as if it's the beginning of a movie.
“SRR”: [A] title song that has the most popularity, and anyone can sing along. It's a title song with an addictive hook. In the first verse, if you are amused with a melodic feel, in the second verse, you will find the charm. [It shows I can] sing, rap, and give people addictive music that's not boring.
“why oh why”: It's a witty song that you can feel [and has] a rhythmical and fresh hook. Unlike the pretty melody, the lyrics have a twist, so you can enjoy the music in a new way.
“Lovers On The Moon”: It [took] seven months to make this song. It's [the] song that took the most time and effort. All the melodies were written and directed by me. It could have been used as the title song, [and] it's exciting. It's a perfect song for a festival and shows [a] hip vibe.
“BLAME ME”: It's "Love Yourself" part two. It's a story that comforts women who blame themselves. When [they] shout "Blame me," I have a calm [lyric that says] “You're a blue bird with a miracle.” It's a very emotional and comforting song that comforts me by saying that I can blame myself instead of blaming you.
Is there a song on your new album that personally means the most to you?
“BLAME ME” and “Lovers On The Moon.” “BLAME ME” is a song that comforts you when you are tired and want to find the answer. “Lovers On The Moon” is a song that brings up the tension, so I recommend it for exercising or having a party.
What makes your new music different from your previous releases?
It contains a lot of new challenges musically, it took seven months to prepare, and the story is applied to the [new] music video to give it a movie-like vibe.
What are your short-term and long-term career goals?
In the short term, it's about continuously expressing diversity and artistry. Starting next year, [I’m] going to have a world tour. [I’m] preparing a lot of content, performances, and albums, so you'll see the improvement of BLACK ON.
Lastly, is there anything else you want to say about your new mini-album?
This album is like a gift for the world that [I] prepared for a long time.
