Rosy Talks New Music, Animated Inspiration, and Resolutions
Rosy talks about all things “Mage” and more!
For those who have not heard your music before, how would you describe it to them? How would you finish the sentence “Rosy is ___” or “Rosy’s music is ___”?
I’d describe my music as “rose-colored”!
Please describe your new single, “Mage”!
“Mage” has a lovely sound and is an upbeat song. Its lyrics include [a] gaming glossary, which is fun, and I think it is great music [for] the morning.
Where did the inspiration come from for the “Mage” cover art?
I worked with moonstick (@moonstick_999) when “JK” was released. I used to think that her artwork would go with my music, so I thought of using her work as the “Mage” cover art from the start of working on my new song.
Will there be an official music video for “Mage”? If so, can you give any hints about what to expect from it, and if not, what would be your ideal music video concept?
There won’t be an official music video, but you can check out me singing the “Mage” acoustic version on YouTube. My ideal music video concept for “Mage” includes animated elements, because I got inspired by games and animations when making the song.
Please describe each of these songs:
“Red Herring”: As “Red Herring” is my first officially released single, I tried not only expressing my vibes like [in] my SoundCloud music, but also adding [details to add it its] popularity.
“Escape”: When my second single, “Escape,” was scheduled to be released, everyone was wearing masks and having a frustrating time due to the pandemic. [Despite] the time involved, I wanted to cheer people up to feel freedom through my song.
“JK”: With “JK” – both “JK” and “SAD” – I got inspired by highteen movies, and I wanted the songs to be cheeky and cool.
If you could have any of your songs become an OST in a movie or TV show, which song would you pick, and what would it be an OST for?
My pick would be “a Bottle of Rosé.” I am a fan of director Michel Gondry, and it would be nice if “a Bottle of Rosé” could be an OST for the movie Mood Indigo.
Before you release a new song, how do you usually feel? Are you more nervous than excited or vice versa?
When my first single was released, I got nervous and my heart was pounding like right before bungee jumping. When my second single was released, I kept reminding myself to be calm over and over. I think it is obvious to feel thrilled and nervous when a new song is released.
Who would you love to collaborate with on singing and/or writing a song?
I would love to collaborate with King Krule. I think all of his albums are great. I [have] always hoped that one day I [can] write songs with him.
Do you have any 2023 New Year’s resolutions, personally or professionally?
I’d like to be more active in 2023, release [music] more often, and perform on stage!
Lastly, is there anything else you want to say about your music?
I will try hard to write good songs for my listeners! Thanks for all your support and love.
