WONI: Hello! I’m WONI from RESCENE. I’m the leader of the group and take charge of the performance aspect. My role is to lead the team and bring good energy to our performances!

LIV: Hi! I’m LIV! People call me “The Tone Fairy,” because of my vocal tone. I focus on expressing RESCENE’s emotions in a delicate and unique way through our music.

MINAMI: Hello! I’m MINAMI! As an all-rounder, I love taking on different concepts and showing diverse sides of myself onstage.

MAY: I’m MAY! People call me “Sunshine MAY,” because I always try to bring bright smiles and positive energy to the stage.

ZENA: Hi! I’m RESCENE’s adorable youngest member, ZENA! As an all-rounder, I love exploring different charms and making sure our group’s unique color shines onstage!

Your name is a reference to the words “scene” and “scent.” How does your music represent both of those things?

ALL: The name combines “Scene,” a captured moment, and “Scent,” a lingering fragrance. We want to create powerful and unforgettable moments onstage, like scenes from a movie, while leaving a lasting impression, like a beautiful scent. For us, growth isn't just about change on the outside; it’s about discovering a “third self” that even we haven't fully realized yet. Every performance is a journey to find a new version of ourselves, and we hope our music spreads like a signature scent that stays in people's hearts.

If RESCENE’s music had a scent, what would it be?

WONI: I’d say a floral scent. Elegant but strong, just like our music.
LIV: A woody scent! Something deep and warm that lingers in your memory.
MINAMI: A citrus scent! Fresh and balanced, with a vibrant energy.
MAY: A soft cotton scent! Clean, pure, and comforting.
ZENA: A musky scent! Deep yet cozy, like a warm embrace.

ALL: In the end, all the scents blend together to create RESCENE’s unique fragrance.

What word or phrase best describes your new mini-album, Glow Up?

ALL: “A journey of shining growth and self-discovery.” This album goes beyond just growing up; it’s about unveiling a part of ourselves we didn’t even know existed. Each step of the journey is like a hidden path on a secret map, leading us closer to the light within us.

Which song from Glow Up is your personal favorite, and why?

WONI: “CRASH”! It’s about breaking free from the past and stepping into a new world. The grand sound and emotional lyrics really resonate with me, and I hope it gives listeners the courage to push forward without fear.

LIV: “Glow Up”! The song captures the excitement of following a scent towards the light, and it has a comforting, warm feeling, just like the scent of fresh soap. The hopeful message gives me strength every time I listen to it.

MINAMI: “Going on”! The upbeat disco-pop rhythm and positive energy make it the perfect song to start the day. It instantly lifts my mood!

MAY: “In my lotion”! The lyrics talk about how scents can bring back memories, and I think many people can relate to that. The dreamy atmosphere and rhythmic melody make it an addictive listen!

ZENA: Definitely “Cotton Candy”! The soft R&B melody and dreamy lyrics feel like floating in a sweet dream. Plus, the song was elevated thanks to the incredible instrumental performance by Dirty Loops!

How does Glow Up compare to your previous mini-album, SCENEDROME?

ALL: Both albums represent our journey of finding RESCENE’s identity, but they carry different moods and emotions. SCENEDROME was inspired by ambergris, a scent that captures mystery and depth. The album had a cool, refreshing vibe perfect for summer and showcased our bold and free-spirited side. On the other hand, Glow Up has the warmth of soap on a chilly winter morning, gentle yet deeply comforting. This album takes a softer, more introspective approach to growth, wrapping listeners in warmth while guiding them towards their own lights. Both albums carry the essence of RESCENE while expanding our artistic spectrum.

Please talk about each of the songs on Glow Up!

WONI: “CRASH” is about breaking free from the past and stepping into a new world. The grand sound and layered chorus give it a mystical atmosphere, making it a song that inspires courage.

LIV: “Glow Up,” our title track, blends dreamy yet uplifting melodies with a catchy hook. The lyrics describe the excitement of following a scent towards the light, and the song perfectly embodies our signature scent concept.

MINAMI: “Going on” is a disco-pop song featuring electric guitars, analog synths, and bass. It captures the joy of starting a happy day and radiates positive energy.

MAY: “In my lotion” fuses R&B with Jersey Club rhythms. The flowing melody and sentimental lyrics explore how scents trigger cherished memories, making it a relatable and nostalgic song.

ZENA: “Cotton Candy” is a smooth R&B-pop song with funky bass and dreamy lyrics. The legendary Dirty Loops contributed bass and drum performances, elevating the song’s richness.

Do you have any fun behind-the-scenes stories from filming the “Glow Up” music video?

ALL: There’s a scene where MAY closes her eyes and falls backwards, and the rest of us had to catch her. Since she had to completely trust us and let go, we all had to move in sync and make sure she landed safely. It was a moment when all of us had to be perfectly connected. That made it really special and memorable for all of us.

In the “Glow Up” music video, five key elements are mentioned: “Faith,” “Beauty,” “Wisdom,” “Sensitivity,” and “Purity.” Which member represents each element?

ALL: ZENA: Faith; WONI: Beauty; MINAMI: Wisdom; LIV: Sensitivity; MAY: Purity. Each of these represents our unique characteristics and journey.

Your first anniversary is coming up! How have you changed since that day?

ALL: Time flies so fast! It still feels like just yesterday that we debuted. Over the past year, we’ve grown so much - not just as artists, but as individuals. But our journey is far from over! We’re always evolving, and as Glow Up shows, growth isn’t just about what’s visible. It’s about finding new sides of ourselves that we never knew existed.
