An Introduction to Chawoo

Chawoo reveals his most memorable collaboration of all time, what words best describe his latest project, and his ambitious goal.

For those who have not heard your music before, how would you describe it to them? How would you finish the sentence “Chawoo is ___” or “Chawoo’s music is ___”?

Chawoo’s music is sentimental and beautiful.

Do you remember when you first wanted to become a famous musician? Did anything specific inspire you to go down this career path?

Simply, the singers [I saw] on stage looked so cool, and I thought “I want to be like that.”

What three words best describe Report of Love (愛), 上?

Honest, sentimental, [and] lovely.

How does Report of Love (愛), 上 differ from your previous releases?

I tried to make this album a little more easy-listening. Because it's [part of] a series, I didn't want to give it [too much] strength from the beginning!

What has been one of your most memorable musical collaborations, and why?

I’m reminded of the song "STAR," with a friend named ROCKY [from ASTRO]. I remember we made a really beautiful song together by collecting beautiful parts that we didn't have [on our own].

Please share some information about the stories in Report of Love (愛), 上. 

This album contains all my honest emotions. Rather than explaining it, I want to respect the thoughts and emotions that the listeners hear and come up with.

Which of your new songs are you the most curious to hear listeners’ feedback about, and why? 

“HONEY (Night),” because it's a love song [and] has sentimental emotions.

How do you cope with stage fright or other nerves related to releasing music and performing?

I think [I have] overcome it.

What are your short-term and long-term career goals?

Become the best artist in Korea!

Lastly, do you have a message for fans or anything else you want to say about your music?

Thank you to the fans who love my music. I'll become an artist who will repay you with better music, as you always believe in me. I love my fans so much.
