All About Owler’s Music
I asked Owler about his new EP, musical identity, and release schedule for the rest of the year.
For those who have never heard your music before, how would you describe it to them? How would you finish the sentence, “Owler is___” or “Owler’s music is ___”?
Owler is sensitive.
What is the meaning of your stage name, Owler?
My stage name is “Owl” plus “er,” meaning less sleep, more creativity.
What is each song on your new mini-album, Collapse, about, and why did you choose the title Collapse?
These are the records that represent my feelings [from] when I broke up. The word “collapse” reminds me of the worst feeling.
What is the music video for “FALLING” about, and is it supposed to be up to interpretation? For example, it looks like your character in the music video is dreaming everything that happens. Is it all just a dream, or is that just one interpretation of the video?
You saw it very accurately! The woman in the music video is a man's hallucination and expresses the lingering feelings after breaking up.
What is something viewers might be surprised to know about the making of the “FALLING” music video?
The actress [who plays the main character in the video] is Miss Universe.
What are the stories behind the collaborations on Collapse? How did the collaborations with Austn and Claire Hau come about?
I work on the same crew with Austn and Claire Hau, and we meet often, drink, and play like friends. At the same time, they are artists who are very [skilled] in music, and I am learning a lot. Please pay attention to their music, and [the music of] other cool artists in our crew. The crew's name is Rest On Memory.
If you had to add a third collaboration to your new album, who would you add and why?
Another song of mine will be released on April 8th, and I worked with an artist named FYVE. This artist also has tremendous skills. I think everyone will have fun [listening to it].
What are your music-related plans for the rest of the year?
I aimed to release an EP every month, but I couldn't release [one] in March due to a problem with the release schedule. However, I have worked on all the songs that will come out in April and May, and I would like to release four to five songs every month after that.
How would you like to be thought of as an artist years from now? Would you like to be remembered in the future as an artist with one specific style, or would you prefer to be remembered for exploring a variety of styles?
I want to be an artist who can continue to develop and inspire many people, not [just be] in their memories.
Lastly, where can people follow you on social media to stay updated about your new music?
I'm delivering news on Instagram and YouTube. Instagram ID: owler95
